Pat Holscher - Beach Groupies
Watercolor painting by Pat Holscher from the Watercolor Society of North Carolina.
Artist Statement: The birds In North Carolina are the recipients of our shifting light which defines their shapes and reflects from their feathers in every imaginable color, transmuting them into a cast of characters. I draw my favorite personalities, do a value study, gesso my watercolor paper, transfer my drawing, and paint the shapes with watercolor. I load paint, spray water, and build the shapes. Lastly, I strategically lift off the paint back to the white to create cohesion and movement.
